Obstacle
Definition:
The appearance of “me” blocking “me.”
A construct of limiting, self-referencing beliefs that create the illusion of a barrier.
Nature:
Arises when surface turbulence of the ego (thoughts, emotions, loops) is mistaken for the whole field of Self.
Appears solid only because of identification with the cluster of beliefs.
Mechanics:
Self cannot be both the barrier and the way through.
Once recognized as illusion, the obstacle collapses instantly.
Additional Detail
Structure: Often shows up as a cluster of self-referencing beliefs (A → B → C → A), which sustain each other without external grounding.
Experience: Feels like being trapped by one’s own mind: “I am the problem blocking myself.”
Resolution: Shifting identification dissolves the loop — awareness sees turbulence as noise on the surface, not the depth of Self.
Metaphor: Like waves mistaking themselves for the ocean’s limit; the barrier was never separate from the field itself.
