Perception
Perception-1 (Psychological Filtering):
The ego tunnel filters reality: promoting what has been conditioned, suppressing what has been forbidden or deemed unsafe.
The subconscious functions like internalized “parents” — acting as though it protects, but often undermining growth.
Conscious mind = surface thoughts, labels, identifications.
Subconscious = deeper, largely language-based processes hidden from awareness.
Perception-2 (Cosmic Self-Perception):
Physical reality itself may be perception: consciousness perceiving itself in form.
Identification with perception loosens in awakening, revealing that appearances are not the whole.
More than meets the eye — perception is both a lens and an appearance of the Self.
Additional Detail
Nature: Perception is not neutral — it is always conditioned by prior reinforcement and filters of belief.
Mechanics: Much of what is “hidden” isn’t absent, but screened off by unconscious filters. Attention can draw these into awareness.
Metaphor: Perception is like a prism or lens: it doesn’t create reality, but bends and colors it, shaping what appears.
Awakening shift: Recognizing perception as filtering dissolves the illusion that “what is perceived” = “all that exists.”
